I found this book extraordinarily helpful as a review of all the essentials of creativity research in a short, thought-provoking read.In particular, I was stuck preparing to lead a creative problem-solving session, and this book got me completely unstuck. I needed something that could give me a quick overview of the major elements on creativity, and going through this book pointed out weak spots in my session and some key elements on creativity that I had omitted. For that alone this book was worth reading for me. I now use it as a quick reference and idea generator when I'm asked to facilitate sessions on specific aspects of innovation or creativity.
I could also see this book being a good tool for teaching creativity to high school students. Many of the two-page segments could spark productive discussions on creativity and learning. Nicely done!

I read the whole book in one sitting today and it was truly inspirational . It is a book for all ages and stages. It even gave ME a charge ! It is very encouraging. It is all about open thinking and most of all Freedom. Creativity is truly a Super Power! I will give this book to my 2 adult children this week to read plus I will mention it at meals! Great conversation starter. I would present it as a confirmation of how much better it is to live in expectation, use our gifts, and that we have super powers. As I read it, the song "This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let it Shine!" played in my head.
In these discouraging times the light and vision of this book will break through to the surface and inspire!
As a creativity and innovation expert, I highly recommend Creativity for Everybody. Haydon and Harvey have achieved something magical. They have synthesized high level creativity and innovation concepts into simple language everyone can understand. I have given many copies to highly educated colleagues at my insights, strategy, and innovation presentations. I have also made the book required reading for my kids. Anyone interested in creating forward movement and leading a more creative life will benefit from the wisdom in this book. You will want to purchase many copies. One to stay on your book shelf forever—you will want to savor the wisdom over and over—and other copies to give out to everyone around you.
This book is a fun, easy to read, easy to digest synthesis of a mountain of information! Even without the more rigorous back half of the book, I understand the essence of what creativity is, and how to live creatively in both personal and professional life. I want my kids and friends to read this too so we can talk about it and do more fun things together! TY for a great read.
I purchased Creativity for Everybody for my faculty as a summer reading gift. As a quick poolside read, it is unique in its presentation and message. With brief text punctuated by lively illustrations, this slim gem is a comprehensive confidence-builder for those who feel that creativity is accessible to precious few. Teachers, parents, and students discover that the fundamental nature of learning and intelligence at its very core is creativity. It should sit on the desk of every small business owner and corporate leader in America. If we are to continue being a nation of innovators, our schools must embrace creativity as a proven science. Teachers and administrators must allow the magic of non-conventional exploration of messy ideas to be at the forefront of our classrooms. This book explains creativity, creatively what it is and how to get it . . . back. I love this book! It's a whimsical quick read that reminds us we are all naturally creative! It demystifies the process and gives tips on how to tap back into something that has been there all along.
Great book! I am an artist and a musician and this book gives me a lot of great ideas about how to ignite my creative spark on days when I am having trouble finding it. Lots of accessible exercises and ideas that would work for anyone, whether you already identify yourself as someone creative or if you are hoping to uncover your creative strengths.
